Background
Each September a fresh cohort of graduates joins the firm. For 2023, The HR from a global accountancy firm wanted an ice-breaker that would energise newcomers, showcase the firm’s collaborative culture and help new hires forge connections across departments.
The Brief
Create a fun, high-octane wellbeing challenge -timed to the graduates’ first month that:
- Delivers a memorable “culture moment” graduates will rave about.
- Builds instant camaraderie between new starters and existing staff.
- Promotes daily activity in an inclusive way.

Our Approach
We launched The Auditor’s Great Escape, a month-long, story-driven chase:
Real-time leaderboards, themed comms and fun “wanted posters” kept the narrative alive.
Two factions
- Guards & Wardens – the firm’s most active employees.
- Escapees – everyone else, including all graduates.
The mission
- Guards accumulated steps to “close the distance” and tag Escapees.
- Escapees logged steps and wellbeing activities to “advance the escape route” back to HQ in London.
The Outcome
Graduates reported feeling “part of the team from day one,” while seasoned staff loved the playful rivalry.
Why It Worked
✅ Inclusive gamification—anyone could contribute through steps or lighter wellbeing activities.
✅ Narrative hook—the chase storyline turned daily movement into a shared adventure.
✅ Cross-team bonds—graduates interacted with colleagues they might not meet in day-to-day work.
✅ Measurable uplift—activity levels and morale jumped in just four weeks.
- Engagement: 86%
- Activity Increase: 15%
